Acorn First in Wales to Achieve New Learning Coach Qualification
Acorn Training has been recognised as the first training provider in Wales to achieve the new Learning Coach qualification through the awarding organisation, Agored Cymru.
The level 4 Certificate in Learning Coaching helps those delivering learning coaching to support 14 – 19 learners to participate in education and training and take advantage of opportunities for employment so that they can fulfil their potential.
Based in Newport, Acorn is a leading provider of training, learning and development solutions with more than a 1000 people receiving training from Acorn every month. Acorn designs, delivers and evaluates a comprehensive range of training and development solutions for both businesses and individuals.
Agored Cymru is an awarding organisation which offers its centres the opportunity to deliver effective lifelong learning, widen opportunity and enable learner progression to support the aims of modern Wales in English or Welsh.
Speaking about the new Learning Coach Qualification, Emma Choat, Head of Programme Development at Acorn, said: “We used RPL (Recognised Prior Learning) to acknowledge the fact that learners had already attended a 10 day Welsh Government Learning Coach Training programme, so learners did not have to repeat material.
“Furthermore, delegates on the course have been able to enhance their professional development and also share experiences and best practice – helping them achieve their full potential.”
Janet Barlow, Chief Executive Officer at Agored Cymru, said “I would like to congratulate Acorn on being the first organisation in Wales to award the Agored Cymru level 4 certificate in learning coaching. Their understanding of the qualification and how it can be used is already providing Wales with examples of good practice that can be used up and down the country. The qualification is designed to provide a flexible framework for delivering the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to those delivering learning coaching.”
