Acorn lands in Preston
Acorn, one of the UK's leading recruitment and training specialists, is strengthening its presence in the North West of England with the opening of a new operation in Preston, Lancashire.
The company, which earlier this year entered into a long-term partnership with leading European recruitment company Synergie of France to increases sales to £100m by 2009, officially opens its new branch in Fox Street, Preston, on October 18th.
It will be the latest addition to Acorn's branches throughout Wales, the West Country, Edinburgh and Manchester. It opened a new Runcorn branch earlier this year and confirms it is actively pursuing a number of other opportunities for branch openings in the North West.
Alison Birse, Acorn North West Regional Director said, "Preston and surroundings towns such as Leyland and Chorley offer tremendous opportunities for Acorn. We aim to repeat the success we have enjoyed across many regions of the UK and more recently in the likes of Runcorn, St Helens, Warrington and Chester.
"Acorn is becoming increasingly well-known for delivering value-for-money recruitment and training services across a range of key market sectors."
The 250-strong company has secured premises at Estate House, 18 Fox Street, managed by local recruitment specialist Christian Ash.
He said, "Acorn will service the large number of major employers in the region seeking skilled and semi-skilled staff across the region, initially concentrating on commercial and technical vacancies.
He added, "For some time we have been looking carefully at a location for Acorn's first branch in the Preston area. The town is a perfect site because it is a busy, fast-growing town with superb access to the developing economy of the North West.
Christian added, ""It represents a major investment in premises and staff by Acorn and a move very much welcomed by the people and business in the area."
The company has been consistently honoured by the recruitment industry, and won both Best Regional Recruitment Firm and Gold Award Winner in the Professional Recruitment Awards in 2002. Acorn is a long-standing member of REC, the Recruitment & Employment Confederation, and is also accredited by both ISO and Investors in People.
Acorn reported a turnover of almost £40m in 2004/05 and earlier this year entered into a long-term partnership with leading European recruitment company Synergie of France to increases sales to £100m by 2009.
