Train the Trainer
Overall Aim:
By the end of the two-day programme delegates will be able to:-
- List the knowledge skills & attitudes of a great trainer
- Have an awareness of the training cycle, setting objectives and assessing delegates
- State the conditions necessary for people to learn effectively
- Allow for individual learning styles
- List different techniques to make training memorable
- Identify different methods of delivery and list the merits of each style
- Use a model for structure and design of a training course
- Design and deliver a structured group training session
Day One Content:
- Characteristics of Great Trainers
- Understanding and using Icebreakers
- The Training Cycle
- Adult Learning – Pedagogy v Andragogy
- Kolb’s Learning Cycle
- Learning Styles – Overview and self-assessment
- Applying learning styles
- Delivery styles and the benefits of each
- Structuring a training course using OTED model
- Preparing and using visual aids
- Review of day
Day Two Content:
- Recap of key learning points – Day One
- Video – ‘You’ll soon get the hang of this’ – Techniques for 1 to 1 training
- Making training memorable
- Left / right brain
- Trainer’s notes
- Individual preparation
- Practical session – delivery of a short group training session and receive feedback from the group and Trainer
This course is suitable for:
Trainers relatively new to their position or looking to consolidate their experience and for those who may be required from time to time to deliver training as part of a wider role. It is particularly relevant to people who need to deliver group training sessions. It would also benefit a person needing to deliver training on a 1 to 1 basis, although to a lesser extent.
