employer pledge
The Employer Pledge Award is presented to private or public sector companies, which have made substantial progress in developing their workforce through basic skills provision, such as literacy, language and numeracy.
In order to gain the award the employer will need to demonstrate that by improving these skills they have helped their employees to carry out their jobs more effectively and given them the confidence to progress and improve productivity. To do this they must show evidence that they have successfully delivered the programme set out in their learning plan. Evidence that the organisation has achieved the award standard may be collected through a monitoring visit or call by staff from Basic Skills in the Workplace staff, together with documents such as the self assessment forms, training records and evaluation reports.
Let Acorn support you to:
- Build the workforce of the future – we can explore this opportunity with you to enjoy the benefits that it could bring to your company. Why not give us a call?
- Run an open day - encourage people to come and talk to you about the learning opportunities that are open to them.
- Make it interesting - run taster sessions such as Completing Workplace Documentation, Successful Customer Care, Report Writing, and Introduction to I.T. If people can see the benefit of the training they are more likely to attend. Short sessions will allow people the opportunity to become interested in learning again. These sessions can be an opportunity to identify individuals that may require additional support through informal assessments and encourage them to attend further sessions to work towards an Essential Skills Wales qualification.*
*The qualifications to work towards achieving are: Essential Skills Wales Communication and Application of Number level 1.
